The L.A Clippers Have Been Sold…

Shelly Sterling has sold the LA Clippers to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for an asking price of $2 Billion. The deal was just signed before Midnight last night.

Before anything can be final the NBA must first approve of the sale, but sources are saying that NBA commissioner Adam Silver was aware of Shelly’s negotiations with Ballmer and other potential buyers.

Donald has made comments about challenging the sale but he will just fail completely. However he gave Shelly control over the team, meaning she would be responsible for selling it and he even sent a letter to commissioner Adam Silver, letting him know that Shelly had the control.

Ballmer is located in Seattle–which currently has no NBA team, so he has also made a bid to buy the Sacromento Kings and move them to Seattle. As for the Clippers, Ballmer did vow to keep the team in Los Angeles.

Just a week ago Silver was deciding whether he would have to force an Involuntary sale on the team, but Shelly and her lawyer Pierce O’ Donnell, solicit bids and found a buyer!

The Real Reason Behind Solange’s Elevator Attack

Beyonce, Jay-Z, Solange Knowles, Met Gala After Party

Everyone has been speculating about the elevator fight between Jay Z and Solange at the Met Gala, but what was the real cause of this incident? E! News has finally confirmed what went on.

It is now confirmed that Jay Z was getting a little too close to designer Rachel Roy, who is also the ex-wife of his former business partner Damon Dash.

A source close to the Carters told E! News:

At the gala, Rachel was being really flirtatious with Jay. Once everyone was at the Boom Boom Room for the after-party, her flirtations were elevated.

Beyoncé approached Rachel to let her know the behavior was disrespectful and she wanted her out of their lives for good.

Solange came over to have her sister’s back, and things got heated with her and Rachel. Jay said some disrespectful things to Beyoncé and Solange as the confrontation was going down. That’s why all hell broke loose in the elevator and why Beyoncé just stood back and let Solange hit Jay

Solange’s primary residence is in New Orleans and since the incident she has returned home to take care of her son, trying to get back to normal.

As for Beyonce and Jay Z, the couple was spotted together a few days after the incident enjoying a Nets game.

The Standard Hotel released a statement saying that the employee who leaked the elevator video had been fired for breaching the hotel’s security policies and recording the confidential CCTV video.

Since the incident occurred, there has been no response from Rachel Roy’s people, however her ex-Damon Dash tweeted the following:

“I am actually impressed with her independent spirit, she seems like a fighter”

Girls Twerk To Raise Awareness About #BringBackOurGirls Campaign

Two girls believed to be Nigerian recently posted a video of themselves twerking with the words “#BringBackOurGirls” written on their backs.

It is suspected that these girls attend The University of Lagos in Nigeria although the school has not released any statement with reaction to the video.

The two anonymous girls, whose identities were not revealed, have promised to go naked if the 200 girls abducted from their boarding school in Chibok, Nigeria over a month ago are not released by Boko Haram soon.

Is twerking the best way to raise awareness about such a serious issue?

On a side note, here is a picture of “The Expendables 3” cast joining in on the #BringBackOurGirls movement.

Fifteen Going On Thirty-Four

Texas Woman Arrested for Posing as High School Sophomore

Now I’ve heard some bizarre stories before, but this one really takes the prize.

A 34-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday after posing as a teenager to enroll as a sophomore at a small private high school in East Texas. Police say that 34-year-old Charity Johnson was arrested after telling officers that her name was Charite Stevens and she was born in November 1997.

Police were called to the house where Johnson was staying when the person she was staying with said she no longer wanted her staying there. Johnson was given a warning for trespassing.

After a brief investigation, Officer Debra Stiles discovered that Johnson had given them a false name and birth-date. Johnson was immediately arrested and held in the Gregg County Jail on a $500 bond for giving false information to the police.

The principal at New Life Christian School told police that Johnson enrolled at the school back in October, with a guardian and filled out paperwork indicating she was 15.

“She acted like a 15-, 16-year-old. She was an attentive student, respectful, did her homework,” says Stuart Newlin, principal of New Life Christian School.

He says the school charges about $150 a month but there’s no penalty if a student doesn’t pay. He also added that Johnson had been paying $24 a month at the school which currently has 30 students enrolled.

The real question is why would a 34-year-old woman impersonate a 15-year-old?

Tamica Lincoln spoke to the KLTV-TV saying that she invited Johnson to stay at her home back in March when Johnson told her she needed a place to stay.

“I sympathized with her, and invited her into my home. I took her in as a child, did her hair, got her clothes and shoes,” Lincoln said.

She called the police after she had suspicions that Johnson was using a fake identity.

Could The Kidnapped Nigerian Schoolgirls Be In Central African Republic? #BringBackOurGirls

The world has been captivated by a tragic story involving over 200 schoolgirls who were kidnapped by terrorists in Nigeria three weeks ago. The search is on for their possible whereabouts and forces from the U.S. and France have pledged to help Nigeria find them.

There have been unconfirmed reports which say that the girls were split into groups and sent to different places. A new report from a French news outlet seems to support that theory.

According to Jeune Afrique, residents of Birao, a small town in the Central African Republic, claimed to have seen about 50 young girls escorted by armed men on Wednesday, April 30th. Here’s a deeper translation of the story, which was written in French, from InfoNubia:

  • The women were guarded by heavily armed men, who spoke English, and also members of the former (CAR) rebel Seleka.
  • The convoy of two trucks and a pickup was previously seen at Tiroungoulou (about 170 kilometers southwest of Birao) and perhaps Chad.
  • Upon arrival, some were frightened, cried and were violently rebuked in English. The girls and their guardians were then housed for several days in a house.
  • The group reportedly left the scene on the night of Sunday to Monday, May 4 to 5, without a trace.

There are also rumors that Boko Haram, the group who took credit for kidnapping the schoolgirls, is requesting a ransom and the release of fellow members who have been detained in exchange for the girls.

These rumors come after news surfaced that Nigeria refused international help when the mass abduction first occurred before it became a worldwide trending topic, according to the AP:

The United Kingdom, Nigeria’s former colonizer, first said it was ready to help in a news release the day after the mass abduction on April 15, and made a formal offer of assistance on April 18, according to the British Foreign Office. And the U.S. has said its embassy and staff agencies offered help and were in touch with Nigeria “from day one” of the crisis, according to Secretary of State John Kerry.

Yet it was only on Tuesday and Wednesday, almost a month later, that President Goodluck Jonathan accepted help from the United States, Britain, France and China.

The delay underlines what has been a major problem in the attempt to find the girls: an apparent lack of urgency on the part of the government and military, for reasons that include a reluctance to bring in outsiders as well as possible infiltration by the extremists.

This week, President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria also confirmed what many have speculated: the Nigerian government may be penetrated with insurgents from Boko Haram in the executive, legislative and judicial branches as well as the police and armed forces.

Michelle Obama also gave this Mother’s Day address on Saturday and connected it with the ongoing tragedy in Nigeria.

Finally, here is an unconfirmed list of names involved in the mass abduction.

Art Attack 2014 Concert Review Through Vine

safe_image (1)

It was a bright and sunny Friday afternoon. The birds were chirping, some students were still in class learning, and one of the biggest turn-ups of the semester was lurking.

From open to close, the genre for this year’s Art Attack festivities was rap. Before the concert began, a couple of student journalists were picked to attend a press conference featuring Wale.

We were told in advance that Big Sean would not be available to talk to (most likely having to do with his recent break-up with “Glee” star Naya Rivera, I’m sure his people didn’t want to risk having one of us ask about it) but getting the chance to pick the brain of Wale, one of the most successful rappers in the industry right now, was something which still got a lot of us excited.

The press conference was scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. but as 6:30 turned into 6:40, and 6:40 turned into 7:00 p.m.; our hopes and dreams of meeting the Nigerian-American rapper in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity began to fade away. Wale was the perpetrator of what is commonly known as “CP Time”.

There was still some hope that we may get to meet up with him for five minutes but the organizers at SEE, the group who was in charge of the concert, urged us to enter the concert and watch the opening act while we wait.

As we walked in, the intensity of the crowd was evident (as seen in the Vine above). The aroma of Mary Jane, someone considered as a buddy to many students on this campus, also filled the air as anticipation loomed for this end of the year celebration to begin.

For most people, standing onstage in front of this type of crowd would be extremely nerve-wracking and torturous. That didn’t seem to be the case for the first act, D-Cal, though.

Before the show started, D-Cal could be seen walking near the dressing room very antsy. He spoke to a fellow student journalist from UMSuccess about how nervous he was for his moment of glory. But when his time to arrive on stage commenced, anything which could’ve held him back from giving a stellar performance was left backstage.

D-Cal alongside hypeman Mike and DJ Reddz from 95.5 WPGC, seamlessly rode the crowd’s wave of energy leaving no hints of anxiety.

D-Cal was also gracious enough to weave in some of UMD’s other well-known hip hop acts into his performance including spoken word artist Kosi and female lyricist O-Slice.

Taking a page out of Ellen’s notebook, D-Cal’s hypeman Mike alongside the other performers onstage took advantage of their moment in front of the bright lights to take a selfie together with the thousands of students in attendance.

There were some profanity-laced mini-rants here and there which seemed more forced and less natural but overall, it would be hard to find anything negative about D-Cal’s performance. He lived up to the hype. All he needed is the crowd’s love and he got it (Find out more about D-Cal through this profile from UMD SBS).

Once D-Cal’s performance finished, we were informed of what seemed inevitable at this point: We wouldn’t get the chance to speak to Wale. Too bad the DJ didn’t give any of us time to mourn our loss.

The party at Byrd Stadium continued to get louder and more lively. After a 20 minute wait, part one of the main show set foot in his hometown and started a riot.

“Get me doe! Get me doe,” Wale exclaimed. The prince of Prince George’s County flowed to a DMV vibe and performed local hits such as “Sexy Lady” and “Clappers”. It was hard for Wale to hide his excitement of being back home, so much so, that he decided to jump into the stands and greet fans.

Wale performed a well curated mix of his songs from past and present but at times he seemed more like a hypeman than he was focused on getting his rhymes together. Towards the end, the performance seemed a bit more rushed than it should’ve been.

Despite the scurry, something which I appreciated was Wale letting members of his entourage hop on stage and giving them their own 15 seconds of fame. Not too many artists are that selfless to share their stage with unknowns.

I also commend Wale for going into the stands and greeting students who weren’t able to get close to the stage. It provided intimacy for everyone in the audience no matter where you were.

I also loved how unfiltered he was, calling Terp students: “You smart motherfuckers”.

Next up was the son of Detroit, Mr. Sean Anderson.

At this point, as was expected, the crowd started to die down and lose energy. But somehow, Big Sean single-handedly got the crowd back on it’s feet to cheers which seemed even louder than before.

Some members of the crowd began throwing their glow-in-the-dark lights at Big Sean, who had been at College Park since 2 p.m., but the distraction didn’t seem to faze him at all.

The worst part of the concert, at least from my vantage point, came during “Mercy”. The Terrapin females near the front of the stage couldn’t hold their shrieks of excitement as the speakers blared in unfathomable volumes. Thank God for the earplugs which I discovered next to the stage, or else I would most likely be typing this while experiencing the aftereffects of hearing problems.

The lights show and graphics which were alongside Big Sean enhanced his set. It gave off the vibe that we were taking part in a selective, invigorating showcase. Big Sean was already transferring his energy to the crowd through osmosis and the lights which surrounded him added to the potency of his performance.

By the way, my hearing issues got worse during “Ass”. But don’t worry, I’m fine now (lol).

If Beyonce was performing it would’ve been fine, but I personally wasn’t a fan of some of Big Sean’s suggestive sexual nuances (I have no problem admitting the double standard I have, haha).

I know the ladies differ from my stance…..especially some of the ladies in the press section, but I won’t name any names, lol.

Overall, I would have to say that this concert was an absolute success. It was controlled chaos at it’s best. Major props go out to SEE for putting on an amazing show.

Kappa Sigma Fraternity Placed On Interim Suspension By Salisbury University

An interim suspension has been set in stone for the Pi Sigma chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity Inc. after allegedly subjecting three women to “sexually graphic” behaviors.

Dane Foust, vice president of student affairs at Salisbury University, sent out a campus-wide email which stated the following:

On Tuesday evening, a student organization participated in a variety show for an audience of fraternity and sorority members where female students on stage and other attendees were subjected to behaviors that many deem to be demeaning and sexually graphic.  These incidents are taken seriously by Salisbury University.

An investigation of the allegations has begun to determine the group’s and individual members’ responsibility in accordance with campus standards including the Student Code of Conduct and sexual harassment policies.  The organization, Kappa Sigma fraternity, has been placed on interim suspension pending a full review, and its national organization has been notified.

The University values each and every member of our community and expects behaviors that represent the campus, the organization and the individual to be at the highest levels.  Actions that are found to be in violation of the campus policies will be dealt with appropriately and will not be tolerated.

According to multiple sources, this happened Tuesday night during Greek Week at SU. Some new members of the fraternity called three random girls to the stage during a karaoke event.

The members proceeded to simulate self-pleasure while spraying whip cream on the females.  The chapter said in a statement that they would be suspending the members involved for at least one year.

One of our sources says that the fraternity used chocolate as a prop last year to pour on themselves which could indicate that it may be part of a tradition to use props, although this is unclear.

It is also unclear what the intent of the skit was. To join Kappa Sig, pledges must have a 2.3 GPA after 12 credits and “have a strong desire to be part of something greater than yourself,” according to their website.

Donald Sterling Has Cancer

Disgraced Clippers owner Donald Sterling is battling cancer
Source: AP

The New York Post is reporting that Donald Sterling has prostate cancer. The 80-year-old has allegedly been living with it for at least two years.

Sterling was recently penalized with a lifetime ban after making racist remarks against African-Americans, in particular, Magic Johnson.

The Post points out in their story that Sterling ironically declined to cover a former Clippers player who was also diagnosed with prostate cancer back in 2011. Here are some more details from the Post’s scoop:

Sources said Sterling has also been telling friends that he doesn’t understand the public furor over his recorded comments to then-girlfriend V. Stiviano, whom he scolded for publicly “associating with black people” and told not to bring any black friends to “my games.”

And insiders at ABC said Sterling was in negotiations to chat with Barbara Walters for a “20/20” interview.

An ABC spokesman declined to comment.

The uproar of controversy which Sterling currently faces is not the first time in the past couple of years that the Sterling family has been under emotional distress. Scott Sterling, his son, died of an apparent drug overdose at the age of 32 in January 2013.

UPDATE: Sources have confirmed to ESPN that this story is in fact true. The timing of it’s release is suspicious but it is unlikely it’ll stop the NBA from removing him as an owner. The league’s finance committee voted unanimously to oust him from the league on Thursday. The vote now moves on to the league’s owners, many of whom have come out in support of Adam Silver’s decision.

Frostburg State University Student Charged After Shooting Threats

Courtesy: Your4State

Marvin Ogu, a 21-year-old student at Frostburg State University, has been charged with disturbing school operations after allegedly making a shooting threat online.

Ogu allegedly sent out a message on an anonymous messaging app known as Yik Yak. The message said: “At 5:30 tomorrow I’m going to start shooting.”

Once the threat was sent out, police were able to trace it to Ogu.

After investigation, police discovered that Ogu was not in possession of any weapons and Ogu told police he made the threat as a joke according to Your4State.

Ogu also tells Pulsefeedz that he was interacting with other users trading jokes and that it was not meant to be sent out. He meant to hit delete but hit the send button instead.

“He’s a happy guy who likes to laugh and make people smile. I just hope he’s not falsely branded as a destructive person,” a close friend who did not wish to be identified told Pulsefeedz.

Ogu has since been released from police custody and is expected in court on June 12th. Ogu faces a fine of up to $2,500 and up to 6 months in prison.
