Being a student at a big university such as the University of Maryland entails doing it big on Halloween. It entails dressing up, going out and maybe making it back home. I decided to document my trails on Halloween and give everyone a walk in my shoes. Here is how it went down…
7:00 p.m. – Got to fit in a nap cause you know it’s about to be CRAZY tonight
8:05 p.m. – Time to hit the showers cause there’s nothing like feeling cleanly before a night out on the dirty streets of CP
8:30 p.m. – Just got the text to be ready by 9… oh god.
9:10 p.m. – Being ten minutes late never killed anyone.
9:15 p.m. – And so the shots are poured. A glass in one hand and cup of orange juice in the other.
9:16 p.m. – I hated that. My throat is on fire. When will we ever be able to afford the nice stuff?
9:20 p.m. – Shots round 2. And round 3. Dear God, I can’t do round 4 because I’m not trying to fall in these heels, am I right, ladies?
9:25 p.m. – PHOTO OP! Of course there is a fight between whether the tall girls get to be in the middle or on the ends…..and the struggle over getting the good side of your face.
9:38 p.m. – Of course I’m in charge of checking the ever unreliable NextBus.. Orange will arrive in 7 minutes, maybe.
9:45 p.m. – And without fail, Orange is not here and we’re freezing alongside the other Halloween participants. But this does give the opportunity to see if anyone has the same costume as you and if so, you still look better.
9:49 p.m. – Orange decided to show up.
10:15 p.m. – We’ve made it to Montgomery with another shot in us thanks to our handy dandy water bottle filled with some sweet libation. Off to Commons for the pregame!
10:30 p.m. – We’ve got Drake playing the background, with a pong table set up and of course in between shots there are more photos!
10:32 p.m. – Oh lord, someone brought out the tequila… We about to die tonight.
10:35 p.m. – I hated that. Throat burning once more.
10:55 p.m. – We made it out of Commons and onto Blue where the party awaits. Only this time we’re sort of stumbling to the bus.
11:20 p.m. – Into the party we go…
11:25 p.m. – Just spotted a caveman, doctor and skier kick back some tequila shots before hitting on a group of girls. They got swerved. Oh the joys of watching someone being rejected.
11:30 p.m. – Ariana Grande’s “Break Free” came on and 2 seconds later a chorus of girls said “THIS IS MY SONG!” Can’t even deny though that I was one of these girls…
11:33 p.m. – Me and my friends have been offered tequila shots… and well you can’t turn those down.
11:34 p.m. – Before taking that sucker I managed to “accidentally” spill half of it. mwahahaha. We all take the lime, down the shot, and lick the salt in unison. This kind of bonds people. They’re my new best friends.
12:00 a.m. – All this dancing and mingling with guys has me hungry. I spot banana’s on top of the fridge so, yeah. I ate a banana.
12:02 a.m. – My friend is contemplating stealing an American flag that’s hanging outside… Probs not a good idea though, seeing that there are a ridiculous amount of witnesses outside huddled around the keg. Even being told this I can still see her weighing her options.
12:30 a.m. – So I just witnessed a girl vomit mid-sentence… I think it’s time for you to go home, huh? By the fence outside I also spot a poor old prisoner lying down beside a pool of vomit while his friends help him out. This is getting gross.
12:34 a.m. – The part of the night where you see a bunch of people hooking up in corners of the room is here. Alcohol and hormones are getting the best of them.
12:36 a.m. – Where are my friends…
12:45 a.m. – A pharaoh told me he saw them walk out the door… and so I walked out the door and now I’m locked out.
12:46 a.m. – Attempts to call my friends go unanswered… I’m too tired for this. Off to the bus.
1:00 a.m. – I hop on Blue where I see a hefty amount of tired drunks beside their loyal friends. This is Halloween.
1:45 a.m. – I manage to make it back home while meeting up with a friend on the bus.
2:00 a.m. – My favorite part of the night is getting some of the group back together, just chillin’ and doing a recap on the night. But not before a quick run to the 24-Hour Shop to binge on some late-night snacks. Praise the F’real milkshakes.
3:00 a.m. – It’s bed time. It’s been real, Halloween. Until next year.
