Every modern day teen movie cliché you have ever known probably started back when theatres released the 90s cult classic teen movie She’s All That.
Popular girl breaks up with popular jock. Popular jock makes immature bet with popular jerk friend about random “ugly” loser girl.
Ugly loser gets makeover (which really just means tighter clothes and eye contacts), threatening the entire high school clique infrastructure.
That plot, or any similar derivative of it, literally describes almost twenty different movies including A Cinderella Story, Easy A, Cruel Intentions, 10 Things I Hate About You and of course, Not Another Teen Movie.
Just when we thought Hollywood was finally done remaking, rebooting, and book adapting, TheWrap.com announced that Weinstein Company and Miramax are in the works to reproduce the timeless film starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Rachel Leigh Cook, Lil Kim, Usher, Gabrielle Union and the late Paul Walker.
In addition, people have already started placing their bets on who will star in the iconic film, many of which include young stars such as The Flash’s Robbie Amell and Michael B. Jordan.
No formal announcement or release date has been mentioned by Miramax, but just in case you missed out on the smash hit, it is currently streaming on Netflix. Check out the trailer below:
