Avengers: Age of Ultron Hits Big! (Review)

Marvel nerd or not, one can’t help but to appreciate the gloriousness that is Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. First off, I have to give props to the movie’s director, Joss Whedon, who also directed The Avengers. Due to the success of The Avengers in 2012, some viewers would be a bit hesitant about the quality of the sequel (let’s be real, sequels are never as good as the original), but Avengers: Age of Ultron is a whole different Marvel beast.

Furious 7: Surprisingly Mediocre (Review)

If you’re a true fan of the Fast and Furious franchise then you’ll be as disappointed in Furious 7 as I was. The Fast and Furious movies have always been about action and fun, and Furious 7 stays true to that. But I must say, there is a certain dark cloud that hangs over Furious 7: Paul Walker’s untimely death.

Unlike the previous Fast and Furious movies, in order to understand Furious 7 you’ll need to know the back-story. Any attempt to figure out the deep-rooted relationships from the past six movies will leave you in a state of panic. So I suggest you grab the nearest Fast and Furious fan and brush up on some facts.

ABC Family Brings Back the Hilarious Hidden Camera Show, Freak Out

It’s back! ABC Family premiered the unscripted prank show Freak Out during 13 Nights of Halloween. Now, the series is back with a vengeance. The show debuts bigger scares and even bigger reactions.

In each episode, an unsuspecting person or ‘mark’ is faced with their worst fears. You’re probably wondering who would set someone up to face their fears, but the culprits are usually the ones they love the most — their friends and family. Every prank is specifically catered to turn a normal everyday situation into someone’s worst nightmare. Freak Out captures each scenario, starting from the planning of the prank, until the mark discovers their worst nightmare is nothing more than a joke. Trust me, their reactions are priceless!

What sets Freak Out apart from other prank shows, like TruTv’s Impractical Jokers, is the fear factor that Freak Out brings to television. Not only are unsuspecting marks put in funny and embarrassing situations, but they are also scared out of their minds. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a spooky twist?

Catch Freak Out at 8:30/7:30c Wednesdays on ABC Family!

American Crime Recap: Episode Three

Just when you think you know where a story is taking you American Crime has a way of twisting that story and taking it to place you never imagined! “Episode Three” of American Crime re-explores the theme of family dynamics as familiar and distant relatives confront the main characters.

“Episode Three” opens in the Gutierrez household with a morning show playing in the background, a sad attempt to fill the uncomfortable silence. Alonzo calls out for Jenny but is greeted with the same silence. Perhaps Jenny is still upset over the way her father handled Tony’s case. Alonzo leaves the house and is ambushed by reporters. We aren’t sure how Alonzo reacts to the reporters, but we later learn that he gives them an interview. Alonzo has a few choice words for Matt’s suspected killer, “He’s illegal. Those are the ones. Always make the rest of us look bad.” Like most of the characters in Modesto, Alonzo has no remorse for telling what he believes is his truth. Continue reading American Crime Recap: Episode Three

American Crime Recap: Episode Two

American Crime “Episode Two” gets extremely gritty as the episode delves deeper into the backgrounds of the characters. I must admit, I wasn’t necessary hooked in episode one, but episode two has a completely different focus. The pace of this episode is drastically slower than the first episode, perhaps to shed light on the importance of the characters and their backgrounds.

“Episode Two” focuses on how each character processes the events leading up to Matt’s death. We get a glimpse into the emotional turmoil that has rocked each character as they try to hold their lives together. Aubrey, for instance, is released from jail only to realize she has nowhere to go and no one to turn to. She resorts to calling her father in hopes that he will give her money to survive.

Most of the scenes with Aubrey in this episode show her wandering around or in a fit of anger over her situation, perhaps to mirror her addict nature and the constant air of hopelessness that follows her everywhere she goes. Although the scenes with Aubrey are without dialogue, the quietness is the most haunting part of her scenes, watching her as she struggles to find her place in the world.

ABC’s Powerful Drama ‘American Crime’

American Crime is a new cable drama on ABC, created by John Ridley, the mastermind behind the film 12 Years a Slave. The series follows the aftermath of a horrendous crime that devastates a small community, leaving everyone affected. The show follows the lives of families in the community and their connection to the crime. It touches on topics of race, ethics,  and morality and I can only imagine how else the writers are going to explore these themes throughout the season.

Let’s break it down:

Selena Gomez Bares It All For V Magazine!

Selena Gomez is baring it all!

Gomez posses topless on the cover of V Magazine’s 94th issue! The 22-year-old pop star graced the cover in high-waisted shorts, big red hoop earrings, a matching polka-dot bow, as well as a head full of lustrous curls.

With this being said, the cover has been the topic of controversy because Gomez is styled to appear much younger than she is. In other shots in the spread, Gomez appears provocatively while she sports big doe eyes, bright pink bows, and a cowboy hat, which intentionally make her look like a young girl.
