5 Things You Should Know About New “The Daily Show” Host Trevor Noah

by MARYAM OUTLAW

Earlier this week, Comedy Central announced that political jokester Trevor Noah will succeed current host Jon Stewart in late 2015, which many are pretty pumped about. But, for those who have no idea who this ambiguously tanned man in a suit is, here are five facts worth knowing about the entertainer.

1. He’s foreign: Don’t worry. He is NOT part of this weird 21st century pop culture British invasion America seems to be suffering from. Noah was actually born and raised in South Africa during apartheid when interracial relationships were illegal, which is pretty awkward considering his mother is a black South African and his father is Caucasian. As a result, Noah’s humor is primarily based upon global perceptions and ethnic material. Fun fact: this dude is crazy fluent in an absurd amount of languages including German, Japanese and Sotho…whatever that is.

by MARYAM OUTLAW

Most people consider the vow to spend the rest of your life with another human being to be a tremendous leap of faith. But on A&E’s show Married at First Sight, daring individuals take that traditional walk down the aisle to an entirely new level.

A whirlwind of laughs, cries and definite pre-wedding jitters, Married at First Sight’s two-hour season premiere yesterday featured a new set of six romantic hopefuls who agree to wed complete strangers who they meet right at the altar.

After receiving ZERO information on their future spouse, the three newlywed couples stay together for six weeks before deciding if they want to continue their marriage or get a divorce.

Of course, the premise of the show is just begging to be taken on by a bunch of fame hungry rejects from The Bachelor. But instead, A&E manages to give us an in-depth look at heartfelt optimists looking to truly fall in love and stay there, even if it means skipping a couple steps. Tom Hanks Stars in New Carly Rae Jepsen Music Video

By MARYAM OUTLAW

Carly Rae Jepsen recently released a music video for her new single “I Really Like You,” featuring a very unexpected A-lister: Tom Hanks.

Depicting a light-hearted day in the life, Hanks can be seen waking up in the wee hours of the morning, high fiving random pedestrians, texting emojis, and eventually joining Jespen for an extravagant dance number, all while lip-synching her lyrics.

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind when people think of Jepsen and her whimsical pop music world probably does not involve the two-time Oscar winner. However, the two happen to be a lot closer than we thought.

According to CNN.com, Hanks and Jepsen’s manager, Scooter Braun, are good friends. So, when she mentioned the idea of a man singing her song for the music video, he offered to play himself.

However, Hanks is not the only star to collaborate with Jepesn. Justin Bieber also makes a 30-second cameo.

While Hanks is set to release three new films this year, Jepsen’s record already has six million hits on YouTube. She currently has no release date for her next album.

Mike Epps Comes for Kevin Hart Again

by MARYAM OUTLAW

Just when the public thought comedians Kevin Hart and Mike Epps let bygones be bygones, Epps fueled the hate fire once again when he spoke candidly about Hart during an uncensored radio interview with Sirius XM’s “Sway in the Morning.”

While Epps was there to promote his upcoming biopic role as 70s stand-up comedian Richard Pryor, he had some shady words for Hart when the conversation turned to Hart’s talent as a comedian.

“I love Kevin. Kevin’s a nice little brother. The only problem with that is he’s like a Kim Kardashian,” he said, referring to his idea that because the funny man is so popular and attentive to his social media following, he makes more of an impact than others who Epps deems more talented. “The social media is a lie… and these kids want to be lied to.”

50 Shades of Grey Review

by MARYAM OUTLAW

A temperamental combination of frigid dialogue, lukewarm characters, and a few sizzling sex scenes, 50 Shades of Grey promises to be the worst good movie you will ever see in your entire lifetime.

Based on the best-selling erotic novel of the same name by E.L. James, 50 Shades of Grey centers around Anastasia Steele (Yes, her name is Anastasia), a soft-spoken journalist, who is thrown completely out of her comfort zone when she falls for a lavish and mysterious suitor with a penchant for complete dominance in the bedroom. However, as the two come to know each other, both their unconventional sex life and emotional baggage threaten to ruin any chance the two have of being happy together.
